As an honorary president of the Spanish Association against Cancer and its Scientific Foundation, Doña Letizia stressed that “we are all interested in survival, when diagnosed, whether as possible and that the incidence decreases.” Hence, this morning’s act was so important, because more cancer data was presented, the first open space of data on this disease in Spain.
Given the absence of an integrated model of knowledge about cancer, this initiative seeks to boost equity in cancer approach throughout the territory improving access, homogeneity and quality of information available on the disease. These deficiencies hinder the design of effective health strategies that increase survival and improve the quality of life of patients.
This tool, according to the queen, “intends to strengthen health strategies so that they are more effective and more efficient” to also strengthen equity “in all its dimension, when a diagnosis of cancer appears in the life of a person, regardless of where or his capacity or his socioeconomic situation is born or of. For all this, Doña Letizia acknowledged that this project “is a great success, an example of union, collaboration. To share knowledge and innovation around cancer ».
Prevention against tobacco
The Spanish Association Against Cancer, which is one of the 24 entities that participate in more cancer data, “dedicates a lot of time and a lot of effort to prevention,” said the queen. Mrs. Letizia highlighted the word “prevention” as his “favorite”, like that of many people in the room. He stressed that this year “they will continue with great intensity dedicating themselves to prevention with respect to tobacco and the consumption of these products, electronic cigarettes, vapers, which the health authorities associate with certain pathologies.”
