Imola scheduled until – at least – 2025: today’s rumors have been confirmed in full. The presence of the Santerno circuit for another three seasons of Formula 1 (in addition to the one that is just around the corner) was the result of the government’s will and the negotiations with the Circus that did not have an easy path. Indeed, Aci president Angelo Sticchi Damiani spoke of “complicated arrangement“. Agreement that – however – is now there, and that the F1 president Stefano Sundays commented enthusiastically.
“I am delighted that we will continue our excellent partnership with Imola for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix until 2025. The circuit is iconic and has been part of the history of our sport. He made a incredible work to host two races during the pandemic. It is a proud moment for our Italian fans to host two races and for all our fans around the world to see this fantastic circuit on the calendar for the future.“, These are Domenicali’s words. “I want to thank all those who have contributed to making all this and the work of the Emilia-Romagna Region possible, in particular the President of the Automobile Club of Italy Sticchi Damiani, the President of Emilia-Romagna Stefano Bonaccini, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Municipality of Imola. We are all looking forward to being back in Imola in April to enthuse our fans“.
“Today’s agreement establishes the presence of the Rolex Formula 1 Grand Prix of Made in Italy and Emilia Romagna at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola until 2025. Imola, its great history and the strong link of its territory with the world of motors deserved this recognition. This is not only a great success for the sport in Italy but also a great enrichment for the top international motorsport series which for several years has confirmed in its calendar one of the most difficult races, but also the largest, and the one most loved by pilots. and the teams“, Added Sticchi Damiani. “Of course the long negotiations carried out by the Automobile Club of Italy, they managed to achieve the desired goal also thanks to the important support received from various local authorities. Among all, I would like to underline the enthusiastic work of the Emilia-Romagna Region and its President Stefano Bonaccini“.
According to the rumors gathered, Imola would have signed in exchange for about 25 million dollars a year to risehowever, receiving 20 million euros per season from national and local authorities: 12 from the central executive (7 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ICE – Institute for Foreign Trade – and 5 from the Ministry of Economy and Finance), 5 from the Emilia-Romagna Region, 2 million from CON.AMI of Imola and 1 million from Aci, as reported on the official website of the Region last October.
