The transport company allows access to these animals from this Thursday 15, although at the moment it is a pilot test
Renfe allows you to travel with your pet on its trains when it does not exceed 10 kilos, with the exception of guide and assistance dogs, which are not subject to weight limitations. Now, these size restrictions will be expanded so that your larger dogs can accompany you on your journey. Although at the moment it is a pilot test, which begins this Thursday, September 15, and will continue until December 15.
Renfe regulations approve that dogs, cats, ferrets and non-poultry birds travel on its trains, as long as they meet certain requirements. Your pets must travel in their carrier or cage, measuring a maximum of 60x35x35 cm. And only one animal per person is allowed. These conditions will be maintained in the pilot test that already allows dogs weighing up to 40 kilos to travel on its trains. Although the novelty will only be launched on the AVE trains of the Madrid-Barcelona line and will allow traveling with a large dog per person (maximum of two dogs per train).
You can buy tickets for you and your dog up to 40 kilos online, adding the extra when you make the payment. The railway transport company informs that this extra is available exclusively for Standard tickets, and does not allow seat selection, since seats for dogs over 10 kilos are pre-established. It does not admit changes, but it does allow cancellation.
