According to a new rumor, Sam Raimi would be ready to return to the world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as director of Doctor Strange 3.
The indiscretion comes from Jeff Sneider Of The InSneider who revealed that the agreement between Marvel Studio and Raimi to direct Doctor Strange 3 would be in the home stretch.
The film in question would be the direct sequel to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness of 2021, directed by Sam Raimi. Although that was the first MCU film directed by Raimi, as far as the world of comics is concerned, the director had previously directed theiconic Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire as a wall climber.
With Raimi at the helm, taking over from the director of the original film Scott Derricksonthe second Doctor Strange film managed to gross $955 million at the global box office. This made the film highly profitable for the studio, though the estimated budget is equal to 350 million.
A third film starring Doctor Strange has not been officially announced by Marvel Studios but, given the post-credits scene with Charlize Theronit wouldn’t be surprising if the film in question actually gets a sequel.
It must be specified that we are talking about rumors not confirmed by those directly involved and, although the source is quite reliable, it is advisable to wait for official communications before taking this news for granted.
