The value of what was stolen is around 200,000 euros and they stole from food products to appliances
The Civil Guard has dismantled a criminal group that had specialized in stealing merchandise in heavy vehicles and industrial warehouses on the main communication routes that surround the Community of Madrid. The band, which had also performed in the provinces of Toledo and Cuenca, was made up of 17 people to whom thirty hits are attributed.
The operation has made it possible to recover stolen merchandise worth 200,000 euros and seize the trucks in which the stolen material was loaded. The investigations began last December as a result of the theft of merchandise carried by two trailers in a service area of the A-5 motorway in Casarrubios del Monte (Toledo).
Its “modus operandi” consisted of using heavy vehicles of up to 7,500 kilos to transport the stolen merchandise, as well as passenger cars as shuttles to avoid the action of the security forces and bodies. After selecting the truck they wanted to loot, they cut the tarpaulin and extracted the material, mainly electrical appliances, food products and copper. In one of their actions they came to appropriate nearly 400 copper hoses valued at 90,000 euros.
The disjointed gang was based in Madrid -in the Puente de Vallecas neighborhood and in the Cañada Real Galiana- and its members have a long criminal history, accumulating more than 90 arrests for more than 600 crimes against property. All those arrested have been handed over to the guard court of Illescas (Toledo).
