The All-Russian Association of Passengers turned to the head of government, Mikhail Mishustin, with a proposal to organize the sale of preferential air tickets via the Internet. Izvestia got acquainted with the letter of the organization. It proposes to identify passengers eligible for discount flights through the State Services portal.
“Now citizens get to the ticket offices from their settlements, stand in queues up to 20 hours to buy the coveted ticket. This process of spending budget funds should be optimized for the comfort of residents, ”the letter says.
The Ministry of Transport told Izvestia that they are working on the issue of confirming the passenger to the privileged category through the Unified State Information System for Social Security (EGISSO). Today, a pilot project is being implemented using EGISSO for the sale of railway tickets. After its completion, the ministry will consider the application of this method to other types of transport. Russian Railways say they expect to integrate their system with informational data containing information on beneficiaries by the end of the year.
Experts believe that given the consistently high demand for low-cost air tickets, the government will have to increase the volume of subsidies for this program in order to meet the demand for them.
