Died People’s Artist of the USSR, actor, singer, director, teacher and artistic director of the Moscow theater “Romen” Nikolai Slichenko. This is reported on website cultural institution.
“We will keep the memory of him in our hearts forever,” the publication says. The date of farewell to Slichenko will be announced additionally. The cause of death was not disclosed. People’s Artist of the USSR died at the age of 87.
Nikolai Slichenko was born on December 27, 1934 in Belgorod. In 1951 he was admitted to the troupe of the world’s first and only gypsy theater “Romen”. Since 1977, Slichenko has been the artistic director of this institution. In 1981 he was awarded the title of People’s Artist of the USSR. He is best known to the general public for such films as “The Wedding in Malinovka”, “My Blue Island”, “Military Field Romance”, “Difficult Happiness” and others.
In May of this year, it was reported that Slichenko was hospitalized due to lung problems. It was noted that before the hospitalization, the artistic director of the Romen Theater was undergoing treatment, however, as it became known later, this therapy did not help.
