Digital innovation, sustainability and an increasingly competitive electrified range. From House of BMW in the heart of Milan the president and CEO of the Munich brand in Italy, Massimiliano Di Silvestre outlined the objectives and strategies for 2022, also presenting the main innovations in terms of models that will join the range of the Teutonic brand. “In Italy, in a market that has only recently started growth in the sector, we have contributed significantly with over 25,000 units sold to date (since the launch of the BMW i3 in 2013). But this was only the first milestone on our path towards sustainable mobility and we have already identified the next goal. Thanks to the constant growth of our range of electrified products, in fact, we set ourselves ambitious sales targets: in 2022, we aim to double last year’s sales both globally and in Italy. “
To support this growth, there will be first of all the new BMW 2 Series Active Tourer: “The second generation of this car exudes dynamism and a strong style thanks to a clean and captivating design. Its totally redesigned interior combines various usage possibilities with modern styling and a BMW Curved Display introduced on the BMW iX. In addition, the new 2 Series Active Tourer is at the forefront of engines, driver assistance and connectivity. A new version of the Mild Hybrid 48V technology also debuts in the petrol versions of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer. The electric motor integrated in the automatic transmission supports the combustion engine with a power boost of 19 hp. ”
Next to the second generation of the 2 Series Active Tourer there will be then a series of new electric models, as pointed out by Di Silvestre: “Our electrified product line will also expand by the end of the year, both with the launch of the all-new BMW i4 (in a few weeks’ time) and including all-electric versions of the BMW 7 Series and BMW X1. The BMW XM, on the other hand, presented in concept form last year, will be an expression of the future of the brand and will be the most powerful car in the M range ever produced in series with 750hp. It will be built from the end of 2022 at the BMW Group plant in Spartanburg, USA, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the M sub-brand. The BMW XM will be available in plug-in hybrid form, only as an M model. It will introduce a highly progressive and distinctive vision of design and an all-new form of luxury and sense of space to the interior. We recently unveiled at this year’s CES the most powerful and fastest electric vehicle in the range, the BMW iX M60, with its system power of 619hp delivered by two electric motors, electric all-wheel drive and specific chassis tuning. M, the BMW iX M60 inaugurates a phenomenal performance experience in the area of zero local emissions mobility, accelerating from a standstill to 100 km / h in just 3.8 seconds. “
