Di Maio and the statements on social media about Bibbiano, the former 5s man investigated for defamation
Louis Di Maio was registered in the register of investigated on charges of defamation regarding the case Bibbiano. The former leader of the M5s, together with 47 other peoplehad been sued by mayor of the country that ended up in the storm due to the affair of the “children stolen from their families”. The investigation – we read in Il Resto del Carlino – was closed by the Reggio Emilia prosecutor's office, following several complaints presented by the mayor of Bibbiano Andrea Carletti, through his lawyer. Carletti was finished at home in June 2019, then it was set free and is currently on trial for abuse of office in the “Angels and Demons” debate, right on alleged illicit entrustments in Val d'Enza.
The investigation for defamation, therefore – continues Il Resto del Carlino – runs parallel to the main trial on foster care. However, in September 2019 Carletti had filed at least five complaints reporting 147 posts and emails with content deemed offensive or threatening towards you. The first among those reported was Luigi Di Maio himself, who in mid-July 2019, before the government crisis and the pact with the Democrats, wrote among other things on his Facebook page: “I don't want to have anything to do with the Democratic Party. With party that is part of the Bibbiano scandal, with i children taken away from their parents and even subjected to electroshock and sent to other families, with the Pd mayor who is involved I don't want to have anything to do with this.” The post also featured a photo of Mayor Carletti. There were many comments under that postsome ended up in the mayor's lawsuit.
