From marriage proposals we have seen many originals throughout history, but Aaron Nielsen's is entirely video game themed, so it deserves to be reported. As a developer he has in fact created an entire minigame for the portable console Playdatewho became famous for the side crank that can be used as a controller, with which he surprised his future bride.
Months of development
Nielsen is a developer at Playside Studios, which is currently working on the first-person shooter Mouse and the action Kill Knight. He learned to develop for Playdate specifically to make Love Letter, this is the name of the game. It took her about six months to finish it, but the woman's reaction was worth the effort, according to what she said on X.
Speaking about the game itself, Nielsen said it changed over the course of development. At the beginning it was a very simple platformer and then it became a real arcade in which the only expected player had to deliver letters to the right mailboxes before the time ran out. At the end of the game, all the letters collected formed the phrase “Will you marry me?” (transl. will you marry me?), giving the possibility to answer “yes” or “no”. If the answer was no, the game would start again. But it was yes, so there was no need for further matches.
