The well-known gaming journalist Jason Schreier published a new report via Bloomberg according to which the company Embrace Group AB – at the center of attention for some time due to various layoffs within its countless development teams – would have deleted The new chapter of Deus Ex in development at Eidos, firing 97 developers on the team. The layoffs were confirmed by Eidos.
Schreier writes: “Swedish video game company Embracer Group AB is canceling a video game in the beloved Deus Ex series after two years of development and will lay off a number of employees as part of an ongoing initiative to cut costs, according to people familiar with the decisions.”
“Eidos, the Montreal, Canada studio behind the game, will instead focus on an original franchise. The canceled Deus Ex project, which it hadn't been announced yetwas expected to go into production later this year, said the sources, who spoke anonymously because they were not authorized to communicate with the press.”

While there is no official confirmation yet from Embracer about the game's cancellation, Eidos has released one public statement on layoffs which reads as follows:

Let's remember that the main chapter of the most recent saga is Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Eidos has not yet released anything under Embracer, by which it was acquired in 2022.
