The details of the incident were shared by a representative of the Haitian police. The gang was accused of kidnapping five priests and two nuns in early 2021.
It is also specified that among the abducted there are five men, seven women and five children. The group consisted of 16 US citizens and one Canadian citizen. The US State Department is aware of the kidnapping reports. “The welfare and safety of US citizens abroad is one of the top priorities of the State Department,” the department commented on the situation.
On October 17, it became known that Christian missionaries were abducted in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, while the group was on their way to the airport.
