The well-known journalist of BloombergJason Schreier has published a new report on the situation of Bungierevealing several interesting details. Various elements had already emerged in the last few hours, such as the fact that the team has canceled a game known as Payback.
There are some details on the future of Destiny 2 which are completely new.
Schreier’s words on Bungie’s shooter
The journalist explains: “The company also intends to continue updating Destiny 2though it will no longer work on regular paid expansions as it has in the past, according to people familiar with the matter. At a recent meeting, a company leader told those in attendance that sales of every expansion had been declining year over year, including June’s Final Form, so it was moving away from the annual release model.”
“Some members of the staff have stated that they are optimistic about the vision of Destiny 2 under new director Tyson Green, a Bungie veteran who took the helm earlier this year. In the coming months, they said, Bungie will try to retain and entice players with smaller-scale content, similar to Into the Light, a well-received update in April that added a new mode to the game. Rather than sell this content, they said, Bungie will look to release it for free along with activity changes it hopes will appeal to hardcore players. Other vague plans for the future include a storyline that will introduce characters and worlds that Destiny hasn’t yet explored.”
“Those who remained at Bungie will now have to settle for a smaller stafftighter hours and a company that looks significantly different than it did three days ago.”
Furthermore, former Bungie employees say they have nothing against Sony, it’s the fault of the Destiny studio’s management.
