Carles Falcón was rushed by helicopter to a hospital in Saudi Arabia.
Spanish motorcyclist Carles Falcón has been seriously injured in the Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia, a British newspaper The Guardian tells.
Falcón crashed at the end of the second stage on Sunday. The first doctor to arrive did not feel the Spaniard's heartbeat, but managed to revive him.
The driver was rushed by helicopter to the hospital in Al Duwadim. The helicopter was quickly called to the scene after the driver behind Falcón reported the accident.
Characterized as an experienced offroad rider, Falcón was ranked 76th in the motorcycle race after the opening day of the Dakar Rally.
French Stéphane Peterhansel drove to a record-breaking 50th stage win in his car class on Sunday.
The Dakar Rally started as an epiphany from Al Ula. The competition ends on January 19 in Yanbu.
This year, the traditional competition will be run for the 46th time. The race was originally known as the Paris–Dakar Rally.
