Irina Skorogudaeva, candidate of medical sciences, dermatologist, told on October 15 in a conversation with “Moscow 24”that frequent hand washing damages the skin.
At the same time, the doctor added that in the future this may be fraught with the appearance of oncology.
In her opinion, soap erodes the lipid barrier that protects the skin from damage and prevents dangerous elements from entering the body.
“Soap for our skin is an aggressive environment. It contains rather harsh detergents. These are the substances due to which the foam is formed. Detergents damage the skin, causing it to leak fluid containing compounds undesirable for the body. Therefore, it is not recommended to break the barrier, ”the specialist explained.
Also, the dermatologist advised everyone to wash their hands only when it is really necessary. For example, after the street or visiting public places. And after washing your hands, it is advisable to use a cream that will help restore the natural skin barrier.
On September 19, dermatologist Anna Bessalova spoke about the lack of connection between nutrition and skin diseases. According to her, only one skin disease has a direct relationship with the type of diet – laboratory clinically confirmed celiac disease (gluten intolerance), which is caused by a specific type of diet.
