One day after a barrage of strong statements against the work of the referees in Colombia and denouncing that there was a persecution against the club, Deportivo Cali decided to reverse.
The statements came out as a result of the sanction imposed by the Disciplinary Commission of the championship on Teófilo Gutiérrez, that he will have to pay two suspension games for an alleged provocation to the public.
The incident occurred in the second leg of the Super League against Deportes Tolima, in Ibagué. As reported by the field commissioner, “At the end of the game and when entering the tunnel, the player Teófilo Gutiérrez of Deportivo Cali showed the stars that his team had on the shirt to the western stand, provoking the audience in that stand” The curious thing is that the shirt with which Cali plays has no stars.

The statement in which Cali apologizes for the statements
Through a press release, the club apologized for the statements made by the president Marco Caicedo and the vice president Luis Fernando Mena, as well as the coach of the professional team, the Venezuelan Rafael Dudamel.
“The president and vice president of the Asociación Deportivo Cali want to offer public apologies to the Colombian soccer authorities for the statements we made yesterday (Thursday). We recognize that we let ourselves be carried away by frustration and concern over what seems to us to be an ill-advised and unfair sanction against Teófilo Gutiérrez, which we will abide by regardless of the final decision,” the statement said.
On Thursday, the president of the club, Marco Caicedo, assured that there was a persecution against the club, that the suspension of two games against Teo was exaggerated and that more serious things, such as the acts of violence in the Unión Magdalena stadium, in the match against Bucaramanga, were much more serious and never deserved such drastic sanctions.
It should be remembered that Unión Magdalena lost that match due to “withdrawal or resignation” after local fans invaded the field, after being provoked by player Ronaldo Lora. The south stand of the Sierra Nevada stadium was closed for six dates and the footballer was sanctioned for six games.

So were the complaints of the vice president of Cali
“A statement has already been sent to Dimayor. We are concerned because Deportivo Cali is not being measured in the same way as the others, there is discrimination in the criteria for judging… When Professor Torres provoked the rostrum, no was sanctioned; our tribune was sanctioned. Here they are harming Deportivo Cali, soccer, Dimayor with these decisions, “said the vice president of Cali.
