The Delta Plus variant of the covid is being monitored closely in Great Britain. The BBC reports that the variant AY.4.2. 6% of the infections are attributed according to the latest data collected. Delta Plus would contain mutations that could provide advantages to the virus over the vaccine. The picture is not yet fully defined: analyzes and tests are underway to assess how threatening the variant can be, which in principle, according to experts, should not assume a dominant role.
Delta Plus is still a long way from the ‘variant of concern’ status which is attributed based on a higher level of risk. The Delta variant was dubbed a ‘concern variant’ in the UK in May after overtaking the Alfa variant. Scientists have identified AY.4.2. in July.
