Explain that Delhi Police arrested Umar Khalid a few days ago under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) in a case related to communal riots in North East Delhi in February. After this, a Delhi court has sent former JNU student Umar Khalid on 10 days police remand. At the same time, Sharjeel Imam was arrested long before that. He was accused of inflammatory speech.
Significantly, a communal riot broke out in North East Delhi on 24 February after violence between supporters and opponents of the amended citizenship law in which 53 people were killed and around 200 people were injured.
