ECD Automotive Design, an American company with British founders/owners, is not averse to converting an old Defender. The website is full of impressive projects that add a lot of luxury and muscle to the iconic model, often with a GM LS3 V8 under the hood. But for Project Britton, ECD took a different tack. It’s another luxurious and powerful Defender Classic… but with a Tesla electric motor.
100 kWh
Only one 450 hp Tesla engine is used, but the Electric Defender Project Britton still has four-wheel drive. In addition, a 100 kWh battery has been incorporated into the chassis, with which the colossus still achieves a range of about 350 km. The 0-to-96 km/h takes just 5 seconds, more than fast enough for the old Land Rover. You can even take it to the Supercharger!
Luxury everywhere
In addition to the impressive technology, the attractive design attracts our attention more. The interior has been completely renewed and now has 6 luxurious leather seats, a beautiful wooden steering wheel, modern Alpine infotainment and classic buttons for all possible functions. The exterior was painted in ‘Cool Gray Khaki’, which actually looks like baby blue, while the gigantic-looking rims are really ‘just’ 20-inch copies of Kahn, wrapped in BFG tires. The case is fully furnished in teak.
Now we hear you ask: what is the price? Well, it’s completely on demand… and given the premium position that ECD appropriates, we’re guessing that you can also buy an average house for the price of such an electric Defender…
