Genoa – The diesel fuel for fishing at the port distributor in Sestri Levante from the price of 0.967 yesterday is jumped to 1.147 euros per liter today. No fishing boat has refueled today since since midnight all the boats have remained in their respective moorings for the general strike of the category which will see on 9 March in Rome in front of Montecitorio thousands of fishermen protest against the price of the so-called “subsidized diesel”.
With the lamps still still waiting for the anchovy fishing to restart, the greatest inconveniences are for trawling which requires powerful engines with daily consumption ranging from 200 to 500 liters of diesel per day.
“For these reasons we stopped – he says Alessandro Capelli dell’Anapi Pesca Liguria – following the protest of the great fishing industries of southern Italy where over 30 thousand people live from fishing. In Liguria today all the fishing boats have stopped and so it will be tomorrow too. It is not so much a protest but a fact given that the daily expenses exceed the earnings ”.
