Early yesterday morning beachgoers came across an enormous, dead turtle on one of Salobreña’s beaches.
One of them phoned 112 around 08.00h to inform them of their find on La Cagadilla beach, which is the one beyond the mouth of Rió Guadalfeo.
It might seem strange to phone an emergency number over a dead turtle, but this call center is an Andalusian neurological center for all the police forces, fire service, rescue services including mountain and sea ones, so rather than thinking about whom to inform, call 112 and they will channel it through.
In this case, 112 alerted the Civil Guard, Local Police and more importantly, the Endangered Species Recovery Center, which is the entity that took charge of the body.
