Mexico City.- Doctor Juan Ramón de la Fuente was ratified this Wednesday by the Senate of the Republic as Secretary of Foreign Relations.
With 118 votes in favor, including from the PRI and MC, seven against the PAN and zero abstentions, Juan Ramón de la Fuente was ratified as Chancellor.
In his first impressions, after being ratified in office, Chancellor De la Fuente assured that there is a close relationship with the United States and that there is a willingness to explain the reform of the Judicial Branch to any foreign government. “We are prepared so that the relationship with the United States continues on good terms, regardless of who wins in the presidential election. The idea is to continue collaborating closely with the priority in the region, which is the United States: coordination as much as they want; subordination, none.
“There is an indication to establish a working dynamic with the United States, since the agenda is diverse, but under a fundamental principle: respect for sovereignty. I am sure that by making these approaches in a cordial and friendly tone, we will be able to channel this relationship and give follow-up to the high-level political dialogue between both presidents.
“Today we have a more intimate relationship with the United States than ever before in history from a commercial point of view, but also with the accumulation of daily interactions that occur on one of the most complex borders in the world,” explained the Chancellor. Juan Ramón de la Fuente said that attention to the issue of fentanyl is a global concern. Likewise, the Chancellor expressed himself “in the best disposition to clarify the judicial reform.” He announced that Mexico will strengthen its presence in international forums. “We will have more presence in these forums,” he predicted. “The only country with which Mexico has broken relations is with Ecuador because they raided the Embassy,” he highlighted.
