Vogel’s team redeems itself after the knockout with Minnesota and wins 114-106. Many mistakes keep San Antonio alive until the end
Without rings and at the end of a performance with lights and shadows the Lakers (8-6) led by a super Antony Davis (34 points and 15 rebounds) get rid of the Spurs (4-9) going to win 114-106 at the Staples Center . The bad home defeat against Minnesota left its mark on the Lakers, Frank Vogel decides to shuffle the cards and promotes Carmelo Anthony to the quintet. The returning Horton-Tucker also starts and thus makes his seasonal debut.
DAVIS DOMINANT
–
The message of the first quarter is clear, while trying to solve the problems of a team that has to find the right chemistry, the best solution remains to give the ball to Antony Davis. With Poeltl out, the Spurs have no answer to Davis’ overwhelming power which makes good and bad weather. The teammates do not help much but the production of the former Pelicans is enough to keep the home team in front. Johnson tries to keep the Spurs there, Young helps from the bench but Davis’ 19 points in a dominant first quarter allow LA to take the reins of the match. The Lakers accelerate and between the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second they place the partial of 16-3 which brings them to +12. It would be easier if the Californian team really defended Murray instead rekindles the Spurs attack, thanks also to the defensive self-harm of LA. A quick 9-0 puts San Antonio back in the slipstream, limiting the damage and coming to rest five points late. Antony Davis at half-time already has 27 points (with 12/16 from the field) and seven rebounds on the scoresheet.
FIATONE

In the third quarter the hosts do not drop the level of concentration as they have often done in this league and keep San Antonio at a distance. Westbrook begins to pick up pace in attack, even the triples of an excellent Ellington arrive, Johnson and Murray’s flashes are not enough, the Texan team so at the end of the third fraction is under 90-79. Monk keeps the Lakers at a distance in the first part of the fourth period, but Vassell’s triples allow San Antonio not to sink. The Lakers just don’t want to win a game without worries and they complicate their lives with turnover and bad offensive readings. The guests thank them, they go back down and with McDermott’s triple arrive at -2 with 2’30 ” from the end. But Melo thinks about it from the long distance to put things back in place, the Lakers, albeit out of breath, then send San Antonio ko.

San Antonio Spurs: Johnson 24 (3/9, 6/9), Murray 22, Vassell 19. Rebounds: Murray 9. Assists: Murray 10.
