This June 5, the court once again postponed the audience in which the charges will be read to David Knezevich at the request of the defense of man, who hope that Ana María Henao appear.
Meanwhile, the FBI continues search and trace efforts near Madrid to locate the Colombian-American woman carrying missing since February of this year.
David Knezevich, Ana María’s husband, has shown himself don’t worry in visits to the judge. In fact, he has been seen joking with his lawyer during the sessions in Miami.
However, investigators have gathered numerous evidence that proves that the husband of the missing woman – arrested on May 4 in Miami and in provisional prison – is after a crime motivated by a separation process and the distribution of a millionaire patrimony.
The evidence that makes up the account of the events, which appears in the summary of the case, to which EFE has had access, comes from the recordings from traffic cameras throughout Europe, the positioning of the suspect’s phone and the statements of several witnesses that place him in key locations.
What David Knezevich’s defense expects
While the evidence suggests that David Knezevich would be the culprit of the disappearance of Ana María Henao and the alleged femicide.
The man’s defense hopes that the woman appears before Knezevich is read the charges at the hearing.
“It’s just that I asked for another week, before I anticipate entering into a permanent court appearance,” Jayne Weintraub, David Knezevich’s attorney, told the media.
Right now looking for her, we can only hope that she appears or they find her
And he added: “Right now looking for her and I and everyone We can only hope that she appears or that they find her. For David’s sake before we go to court, thank you.”
During the hearing, David Knezevich was calm and laughing with his lawyer.
“He’s a fun guy. Maybe he was laughing at whatever he was telling me. “I can give you my word that he was not laughing at his family,” the lawyer told the American media.
Knezevich’s appeal for bail is denied
The US Justice ordered this Monday, June 3, “preventive detention” without the right to bail of Serbian David Knezevich, arrested in Miami for his possible involvement in the disappearance of his wife, the Colombian-American Ana María Knezevich, in Madrid (Spain) last February.
Judge Edwin G. Torres, in a federal court in Miami, determined that Knezevich, 36, must remain detained without bail until the conclusion of the process, “after considering the nature and circumstances of the crime” of kidnapping of which he is accused and the possible risk of flight, according to the order to which EFE had access.
“The weight of the evidence against the accused is sufficient to establish probable cause to support preventive detention,” says Judge Torres in his ruling, who details in his arrest order the weight of the evidence against Knezevich, “the story and characteristics of the defendant”.
