There is currently a surge in contemporary gamers taking to Steam Darkest Dungeon. The gothic survival RPG can indeed boast 16,977 players at the time of writing, approximately 2,400 less than the historical record set 7 years ago.
The result was obtained in the last few hours: Darkest Dungeon has never been unpopular, but for months it hasn't exceeded 5,000 concurrent users and most of the time it spent just above 3,000.
The recent growth in players is obviously caused by the fact that Darkest Dungeon is currently on offer and therefore many have decided to try their luck and challenge the dungeons full of monstrosities of the video game.
And Darkest Dungeon 2?
The result is relevant not so much for the sheer numbers (all quality games tend to get a peak when they go on sale, after all) but because it allows us to understand what the situation of the second chapter.
Darkest Dungeon 2 in fact at the time of writing can count only out of 1664 players contemporary: this is, among other things, the maximum peak of the last 24 hours. In the last week the game regularly dropped below one thousand players.
Although Darkest Dungeon 2 can boast a higher peak than the first chapter (23,800), current data reconfirms how the second chapter did not hit the mark and how many still prefer to play the original chapter.
We underline that Darkest Dungeon 2 is also on offer on Steam at the moment, but obviously the price of €26.12 cannot compete with the €2.45 of the first game.
