“Daredevil” was not the first Marvel series, but it was the first that dared to raise the standards for future productions of the franchise and the superhero genre in general. For this and many other successes, the Netflix production endures as a benchmark and several fans still consider it the best adaptation of the House of Ideas.
After a dispute over film rights and distribution, Disney Plus premiered all 3 seasons of the show in its catalog. An ideal opportunity to binge-watch and rediscover the acclaimed story of the crimson vigilante, 7 years after its original release. Much has happened since then and we wonder, how well has it aged? In the meantime, we share everything you need about the show.

What is the series about?
“Justice is blind,” cries Matt Murdock. By day, a lawyer from the New York neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen; by night, a crime-fighting vigilante headed by the Kingpin. There is no room here for alien invasions, terrorist conspiracies, war of gods, time travel or alternate universes. Only moral conflicts, drama and action in the courts or the corrupt streets of New York.
Five reasons for its success
- “Daredevil” proved that superheroes are not exclusive to children
- It was and continues to be a breath of fresh air before serialization of the MCU
- It has a self-contained, autonomous and own universe
- A realistic, dark and violent portrait of crime fighting
- Script, direction, photography and acting work really committed.
And why was it cancelled?
The Daredevil series could boast of having achieved unanimous success among critics, viewers and investment. To the surprise of fans, his battle against crime ended with the third season in 2018 and the character was left in limbo. When Netflix announced its cancellation, no one from the production took it well, but they had to accept it.
“Marvel wanted to wipe the slate clean. We understood that he was doing it because they were going to launch Disney + … When you have been in this business as long as we have, you see that it makes sense at a business level, ”he explained. Vincent D’Onofrio to Marvel News Desk.

A dream comeback for fans
In 2020, Marvel Studios regained the rights to “Daredevil” and it was only a matter of time before the character appeared in their cinematic universe or Disney Plus. After various rumors and speculations, the crimson vigilante debuted in “Spider-Man: no way home” as Peter Parker’s lawyer, while the villainous Kingpin did the same in the “Hawkeye” series. Both were minor entries, but suitable for reinsertion into canon.
Daredevil’s future in the MCU
Everything seems to indicate that the study did not restart the stories of the characters for their addition to the franchise, but that they are the same as we saw before. Despite that and the relief it brings, more than one wonders what their future will be and if their programs will maintain the same tone that catapulted them to success. This is what Charlie Cox had to say to SiriusXM about it:
“What happens in comics is that the creators do different things with the story in their own style every once in a while (…) So, I imagine that my return could mean a reinvention of the character and the show. Although of course, there will be some elements that will be the same.”
What powers does Daredevil have?
Due to being blind, Daredevil has super ability with all of his other senses: smell, hearing, taste, and touch. All these he uses to fight evil as a lawyer and vigilante.
