Writer and former model was hospitalized in Rio; she was married to journalist Samuel Wainer, founder of “Última Hora”
The writer, journalist and former model Danuza Leão died on Wednesday night (June 22, 2022), at the age of 88. She suffered from respiratory problems and was hospitalized at the São Vicente clinic in Rio de Janeiro. Her body will be cremated at the Caju Cemetery, in the state capital, according to information from the g1.
Sister of singer Nara Leão (1942-1989), Danuza began her career as a model in the 1950s and became the first Brazilian to parade abroad. She also served as a columnist for the newspaper Folha de S.Paulo from 2001 to 2013, and the Magazine Is it over therefrom the newspaper O Globefrom 2017 to 2019.
He wrote books that became best sellers such as “In the room with Danuza” (1992) and the autobiography “Almost everything” (2005). At the movie theaterparticipated in the long “The Age of Earth” (1980) and “Earth in Trance” (1967), both by director Glauber Rocha (1939-1981).
Danuza Leão was married to journalist Samuel Wainer (1910-1980), founder of the newspaper Last hour –the media vehicle was founded in June 1951, ended up sold in 1971 to a business group and had its bankruptcy decreed by the court in July 1991, 11 years after Wainer’s death.
The couple had 3 children: Samuel Wainer Filho (1955-1984), Pinky and Bruno. In the image below, posted by the journalist Karla Monteiro on her Instagram profile, you can see Danuza and Samuel. After the divorce, Danuza had 2 other marriages: with the composer and chronicler Antônio Maria and with the journalist Renato Machado.
Danuza was born in Itaguaçu, Espírito Santo, on July 26, 1933.
