Daniel Martínez was the best Colombian cyclist on the opening day of the Tour of the Basque Countrywhich was won by Primoz Roglic, who is the leader.
Martínez, a rider for the Ineos team, set a finish time of 10 minutes 09 seconds, which gives him the opportunity to have finished seconds behind the rivals with whom he is going to fight for the title. He was 21 s behind Roglic.

“We try to do the best. It is an explosive time trial and the idea was to make some differences between the rivals”, said Martínez.
Sergio Higuita did not make a good fraction, as he scored 10 min 33 s at the finish line. The Colombian comes from winning the Tour of Catalonia and wants in the Basque Country to continue setting the standard.
Rigoberto Urán finished the first day with a time of 10 minutes 28 seconds. “A pretty good tour. We passed without problems and we will see how things go. Every second is important in this, that’s why you have to give your best every day.” Uran pointed out.
And in the fight for the first lead, Adam Yates, one of the favourites, was the first to set a good time, but then Remi Cavagna arrived to impose their law for a good moment during the day.
Among the last to leave were the leaders of each team, including, Remco Evenepoel, the winner of the Tour of the Algarve managed to get under 10 seconds and signed the list with the best time with 9 minutes 53 seconds.
But the last rider to leave was last year’s champion, Primoz Roglic, who was the best finisher with a time of 9 minutes 48 seconds.
This Tuesday, second stage, Leitza and Viana, the longest of this edition, 207 km.
