Winner again in a Sprint
If we exclude the three-place grid penalty imposed on Francesco Bagnaia for the long race on Sunday, the weekend of Italian Grand Prix gave other emotions to the men of the official team Ducati in their home race at Mugello. The reigning world champion himself in fact won the Sprint race, maintaining the lead from the start to the checkered flag, with the #1 also reducing his gap to Martin in the general classification.
Rear tire analysis
The Spaniard, with four laps to go, lost control of the bike at the San Donato braking point, and Bagnaia now finds himself -27 behind the world championship leader. There is therefore happiness in the Borgo Panigale team, even if the General Director of Ducati Corse, Luigi Dall’Ignafocused on rear tire wear in anticipation of tomorrow’s race Sky Sports MotoGP: “We will analyze the data and the consumption of the rear tire because certainly, if it was obvious for the Sprint, for the long race things may be differentand then we will do the evaluations tonight.”
“A masterpiece”
The engineer finally commented on Bagnaia’s success, back on the top step of the podium after a long wait since his last victory in a Sprint: “It seemed like we couldn’t win the sprint, but instead he managed to make a masterpiece – he added – he almost succeeded in Barcelona, unfortunately things went wrong on the last lap, but Pecco has the speed and the grit and he knows how to do these things, so we can win.”
