The rest shift has certainly benefited the riders of the Prodrive in the ninth stage of the Dakar, starting with the legend of the rally Sebastien Loeb. The Frenchman of the Bahrain Raid Xtreme team has in fact obtained the third success personal in this edition, the second in a row after the long and complex journey of 686 km in total from Ryhad to Haradh. The nine-time WRC champion stopped the clock 57 seconds ahead of the Lithuanian Vaidotas Zalawith Guerlain Chicheritthird and penalized by 10 seconds, which contributed to completing a podium completely occupied by the British manufacturer’s riders.
There is instead no peace for Audi, even if the final classification sees the Swede Mattias Ekstrom in fourth position. The episode that generated the greatest concern actually occurred to the detriment of Carlos Sainz, victim of a rollover accident at the start of the race. The Spaniard, initially rescued and airlifted to the hospital, in fact asked the medical team to return at the scene of the accident to resume the stage.
The performance of the classification leader was not brilliant Nasser Al-Attiyahonly eighth at the finish. However, a result that did not have an excessively negative impact on the Qatari, given the great advantage he has over his direct opponents. The winner of the last edition of the Dakar can in fact count on a gap of one hour and twenty-one seconds on the other Toyota Lucas Moraesand one hour and 43 seconds on Loeb, provisionally third after the bad luck that had hit him in the first practice.
