The adventure of Dacia Spring it has so far been a notable success for the Renault group. Between sales, orders in the list and all in all positive reviews, the small one electric with a low price, it has achieved several goals. We must therefore already look to the future: not so much to the restyling of the current model, but to the next generation. Renault has in fact announced that the heir of the Spring will arrive in 2024without overlapping the original but in full replacement.
Luca De Meo, during the conference presenting the Renault Group’s plans for the electric future, said that the new electric Dacia will be built on the CMF-A platform. So there will be essentially the same proportions as the current carwhich is only 3.7 meters long (in full segment A) with very narrow wheels.
There is talk of a car capable of replacing Spring as there would be no electric variant of Sandero. According to what the French of Automobile-Magazinewith a strong critical spirit, “the announcement of its replacement starting from 2024 recalls the commercial opportunism in which the Renault group has immersed itself, choosing to import into Europe a car that is far from local criteria and whose performance is simply not up to the level of a modern city car, with the sole objective of lowering Dacia’s annual CO2 average“. With the relationship with Dongfeng having come to an end, this situation will lead to the replacement of Spring after only three years of listing. Higher standards, and therefore higher prices, can be expected from the 2024 model; unless the cost of batteries becomes more sustainable.
On the future replacement of Dacia Spring, in any case, no other ‘weight’ information was provided. The only certainty is that according to the current composition of the Renault group, the car will in any case be the gateway to the electricwhile Nissan and Renault will occupy higher price segments and a more demanding public also in terms of city cars.
