Dacia Duster recently celebrated the achievement of the sales target of 2 million models, historic result for the Romanian brand that has had great success in Europe. French, Italian, German and Turkish customers, in particular, have appreciated the design and price of the Renault group’s SUV, with high percentages of loyalty. However, there are also special Dacia Dusters which have been built in a single example, or adapted for different purposes, including military or civic purposes.
In the gallery below there are some examples of how the Duster has always been pretty versatile over the years through two generations and related restyling. Dacia has particularly pursued a commitment to motorsport, with a specially made Duster for the Andros Trophy on ice (driven by Alain Prostcertainly not the latest arrival), a special model for Pikes Peak 850 horsepower derived from the Nissan GT-R engine, and with versions for rally raids. Duster actively participated in the South American Dakars, but one cannot fail to mention the brand’s assiduous commitment to rallies in Eastern Europe, especially in Poland.
In France, the Duster has been the protagonist of adventures and travels like the one on the Via Alpina, and a special version has also arrived in Rome, from the Pontiff Pope Francis. There Duster Popemobile it was obviously painted white. In Romania the Dusters were transformed into vehicles of the police, in vehicles for firefighters, and also in tracked ambulances. Even the Ministry of Defence Romania has ordered several Dacias over the years, both in SUV and pick-up formats. The camouflage Dacias take the car to one of his favorite places, the mountains.
Among the various special Dusters, in fact, the main theme it is undoubtedly the high altitude: Duster, particularly with the second generation, has a rather smooth ride in the winding mountain roads, even in the LPG versions.
