The French company DAB Motorbike presented a very special version of its striking DAB 1α electric motorcycle (DaB alpha) which nods to people nostalgic for the 80s and fans of one of the most cult classic films of all time: back to the future. In fact, this high-performance two-wheeled vehicle is inspired by the DeLorean DMC-12with numerous details that immediately recall the car with gullwing doors, modified by the lovable Doc Brown to go back and forth in time with his friend Marty McFly.
Nothing is left to chance in this limited edition, launching on November 5, just like the day the modified DeLorean DMC-12 was first tested in the first film. The stainless steel body of the electric motorcycle exposes the cables and incorporates decorations and details identical to those of the car body. A screen identical to that of the DeLorean is mounted on the handlebars and there is also a reference to the flux capacitor (which in Spain was called ‘flux capacitor’ to avoid sexual connotations) on the side of the body. Unfortunately, however, it doesn’t allow for true time travel.
In the image below you can clearly see the decorative screen and the real one that serves as a speedometer and shows the famous number 88 as the miles per hour that the DeLorean must reach to travel in time. The electric motorcycle, electronically limited, can reach 130 km/h (equivalent to 80.8 miles per hour; perhaps this is why he cannot travel in time) and offers a range of 150 km.
This is just one of the many special versions of the DAB 1α electric motorcycle, which also came out in a Game Boy Color-inspired variant with semi-transparent paint and a plug-in cartridge. The sale price of this special clean-powered means of transportation is 14,900 euros ($15,970) and can be ordered on the official website, although it is necessary to register on a waiting list.
