Yesterday it was revealed that CD Projekt Red had teamed up with companies like Apple and Bloober Team to block access to GOG and restrict the sale of games in Russia as a response to the ongoing war against from Ukraine. However, this position was received negatively, since the review bombing was immediate, and at the moment Cyberpunk 2077 has negative reviews where the game is not talked about, but the decision of the Polish company is criticized.
At the moment, Cyberpunk 2077 is being rated negatively on Steam. Although we still find comments that are not happy with the performance of the game, many reviews were written by users from Russia, who are angry about CD Projekt Red’s recent decisions. This was what they commented:
“Rare garbage with a lot of bugs, the sale of which in Russia is suspended.”
“CD Projekt Red, Russian players have always supported you more than anyone in the world. You decided to pay us with ingratitude. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind, damn Nazis.”
“I have always supported the studio, but this is the height of cynicism and a stab in the back. You connected the game with politics, spitting in the face of the entire community for the agenda that the government carries, and not ordinary people.
More comments follow the same theme. Users are not happy with the decision to block the sale of games in Russia, and they are doing their best to make this clear. Considering that other video game companies have carried out similar acts, including Microsoft, it is certain that this type of comment will be replicated in more places.
On related issues, Microsoft has decided to block the sale of Xbox in Russia. Similarly, John Romero has created a new level of DOOM II to help the people of Ukraine.
Editor’s Note:
It is more than certain that CD Projekt Red will not decide to change its mind. Although negative reviews can be detrimental to the company’s image, they would look even worse if they retracted so soon, and the same goes for the rest of the companies that have applied similar decisions.
