The Spanish brand Cupra has launched a special version, in a limited series of 999 units, of the SUV Formentor VZ5. Exactly the one with the 2.5-liter 5-cylinder engine, capable of delivering almost 400 horsepower with 480 Nm of torque. This particular variant was called Formentor VZ5 Taiga Grayand it will cost – for so many small specific details – well 70,500 euros turnkey.
The color is unique, but it is not the only distinguishing feature of the car. Also found in the set-up are the LED Matrix headlights, the 20-inch VZ5 alloy wheels, a specific badge, the so-called Top View Camera, the electric tailgate with ‘hands-free’ opening system and a rear extractor with carbon fiber finishes. The four tailpipes enhance the aggressive look.
Inside are fitted sports seats in Dinamica Black with Dark brown leather inserts and contrasting stitching. The racing steering wheel of the brand should also be emphasized. Each car will feature a (laser) engraving with a number that identifies the limited edition specimen.
The SUV coupe mounts the technology Torque Splitter (dynamic distribution of the torque). The system, housed in the rear, is electro-hydraulically operated with two independent clutches, and allows torque control on each rear wheel. The car also features the new Drift mode. With this trim setting the ESC is completely disabled and, using Torque Splitter technology, it is possible to direct all the power to a rear wheel, helping to propel the car into corners. Production of the Cupra Formentor VZ5 Taiga Gray began this week at the Martorell plant, as an integral part of the 7,000-piece Cupra Formentor VZ5.
