With experience in the Major Leagues, Cuban pitcher Ronald Bolaños was one of the first foreigners to report to the preseason of the Cañeros de Los Mochis ahead of the 2024-2025 campaign of the Arco Mexican Pacific League.
The Santa Cruz del Norte native was pleased with the management and coaching staff for the opportunity to play his second season with the Fuerza Verde.
“I feel very good, grateful and happy with the team and the coaching staff for being here again. The whole team and I hope to give our best and try to qualify, which is what we want, to be in the playoffs.”
The right-hander reported to preseason camp on Day 1, with the goal of having a good preparation and being completely ready for the start.
“I started early to prepare myself well, to be well, to do my best during the season and to be ready for what is coming.”
The islander arrived in the city a month and a half ago to start working early, which will complement the emerald preseason.
“I have been training here in Mochis for a month and a half now, the preparation has been quite good and now we have to complement it with what we are doing here in the preseason.”
Bolaños is clear about his goals for the 2024-2025 season, in which he hopes to meet expectations, win a good number of games and help the team reach the playoffs and play in the final.
“This season I have several goals: first, to win a lot of games, to have good results, which is what is expected, and for the team to qualify for the playoffs and the final as well.”
Regarding his role in the team, the former big leaguer is expected to open the game just like last season.
“Up to this point, the same as last year, as a starter, I hope to start several games and have good results.”
Ronald knows that last season they failed to perform well in the playoffs, but he hopes that with their hard work they can turn things around and return to the top.
“Last year, the whole team was a bit down, our batting was a bit weak, but that is normal in baseball, it happens, let’s hope that this year is different, every year is different and that what happened last year doesn’t happen this year so we can move up the table.”
Bolaños is happy to maintain the foundation of the previous campaign and knows that the new players will strengthen the team.
“A lot of people stayed on the team, there are new faces, but it is to reinforce the pitching and the offense a little more, I see that very well and with that we hope to qualify.”
The Cuban called on fans to continue supporting Cañeros and trust the team.
