The new vice president of the CSM is the lawyer elected to parliament by the League, Fabio Pinelli. After eight years, therefore, the center-right returns to lead the CSM with one of its laymen, who succeeds the dem Roberto Legnini and David Ermini. The last was, in the 2010-2014 council meeting, Michele Vietti from the UDC area.
However, the CSM split in the election and to choose the vice president it was necessary to arrive at the third ballot in which he was elected by a majority of voters. To elect him, an absolute majority of the council of 17 votes was needed, which was not reached in the first two ballots.
