The San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer announced through their social networks that they will hold a friendly match against Cruz Azul of Liga MX next Thursday, October 7 at PayPal Park.
The confrontation marks Cruz Azul’s third visit to PayPal Park, after friendlies against Los Quakes in 2018 and against Atlas in 2019. In that first match against the Californian team they equaled zero scores and now, they will meet again, but under the orders of an old acquaintance of Mexican soccer Matías Almeyda that, in addition, has several Mexican players in its squad.
The Celeste Machine will have this commitment in the middle of the regular phase of the Apertura 2021 tournament, while the San Jose team will have the playoffs a month later that, for now, they are excited to be able to qualify.
Tickets for the game will go on sale on August 30 and fans of the US team will receive additional discounts.
The San Jose Earthqueakes has three Mexican players, Oswaldo Alanís, Eduardo López and Carlos Fierro, all of them, players who served in the Sacred Herd in the stage of Almeyda as a strategist for the rojiblanco team.
In this way, the current Mexican soccer champion will have the opportunity to continue measuring their potential, facing the final stretch of the tournament where they will seek to go for the two-time championship.
