Cruz Azul was one of the teams that looked best in its debut in the Clausura 2022 of Liga MX. The team led by Juan Máximo Reynoso lined up several of their reinforcements for this new season and they had a more than acceptable performance. For their matchday 2 match against FC Juárez, the Celeste Machine would recover two of the five elements that are out, between injuries and COVID-19 infections.
The cement team will have Guillermo ‘Pol’ Fernández and Luis Ángel ‘Quick’ Mendoza for the game against the Braves this Saturday, January 15. Alejandro Mayorga, Christian Tabó and Santiago Giménez will not be considered for this duel; the first two due to injury and the third because he returned to test positive for the new coronavirus.
So far, nothing seems to indicate that Fernández and Mendoza can start the match against the border team, but they will surely have minutes at some point in the match coming on as a shock.
Cruz Azul faces a process of renewing the squad after winning the Guardianes 2021 tournament title. Important players from the sky-blue team such as Jonathan Rodríguez, Yoshimar Yotún, Roberto Alvarado and Orbelín Pineda left the club in this winter market. In the register of registrations, the Machine added Tabó, Uriel Antuna, Erick Lira, Carlos Rodríguez and Alejandro Mayorga.
To make up for the significant loss of ‘Cabecita’ Rodríguez, the cement board has set its sights on elements such as Cristian Pavón and Luciano Vietto, although it has not yet been able to reach an agreement for either of the two players.
The Machine will receive FC Juárez this Saturday, January 15, at the Azteca Stadium at 9:00 p.m.
