Unlucky ones the delay-plagued luxury cruise ship Villa Vie Odyssey has finally set sail.
The ship was supposed to leave in May for a trip lasting three and a half years, but the departure was repeatedly delayed. Glimpses of hope were seen on Monday, September 30, when the ship set sail from Belfast, Northern Ireland. However, the journey is boring before it even starts properly.
The reason for the interrupted trip was named “paperwork” that had not been completed.
Now, however, the ship is finally on the move, CNN tells. On Friday, two days before Finnish time, the ship was already on its way to Brest, France. Managing director by Mike Petterson according to the ship is scheduled to spend a day in France, after which it will head for Bilbao, Spain.
The news is a relief for the ship’s passengers, who have paid tens of thousands of euros for the more than three-year journey. According to CNN, some of the passengers have even sold their homes because of the trip.
“This has by no means been what we expected, and this has been frustrating at times, but we know we’re about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime,” an American woman traveling with her husband told CNN in September.
