Crt Foundation: Poggi, we will avoid commissioner, no request for extension to Mef
The risk of being placed under special administration continues to hover over the CRT Foundation, since last April, when the institutional earthquake broke out that led to the resignation of the secretary Andrea Varese and the president Fabrizio Palenzona. And while the Ministry of Economy and Finance continues the inspection started on June 5, Anna Maria Poggi, president of the CRT Foundation, declares herself confident that “we will avoid the Foundation being placed under special administration. We are doing our utmost“.
Poggi is working on changes to the governance of the Authority after the case of the alleged ‘hidden pact’ of the councilors. The Foundation has until August 22 to respond to the Ministry of Economy’s concerns about conflicts of interest and rewrite its internal rules and, according to Poggi, no extensions will be necessary: ”There was a discussion with the ministry on this point. At the beginning, as a fussy jurist that I am, I thought it was necessary to have more time to deal with an objectively complex situation. PWe have realized that, also in the interest of the Foundation, it is better to close quickly. So there will be no extensions” he says in an interview with La Stampa.
“I know what the Mef’s findings are and I can assure you that we will respond point by point – she continues – Then it will be up to the supervisory authority to evaluate. As for the investigation, however, I don’t know what is in the papers and what evaluations the magistrates have arrived at”. The president of the CRT Foundation also dwells on the economic situation of the institution, assuring that “the financial situation is very solid and the structure has never stopped functioningboth in terms of disbursements and in closely following the development of the projects we finance and the activities of our subsidiaries”.
