The current runner-up in the world started the game down on the scoreboard due to an early goal from the Canadians. However, they recovered and won 4-1 with two goals from Andrej Kramaric, one from Marko Livaja and the rest from Lovro Majer. The Croats now command the group and will only be eliminated if they lose to Belgium. Canada, out of the World Cup and will be a judge on the final date with Morocco.
At the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Croatia took an important step to move closer to the round of 16. After a bad start, they rounded off a promising performance: they beat Canada 4-1 and finished first in group F. The Anglo-Saxons put an end to their illusion despite two good performances.
The start was full of emotions and historical notes. Within a minute, some great play by Tajon Buchanan culminated in a cross that was connected by Alphonso Davies for Canada’s 1-0 lead. The Bayern Munich winger wrote his name in the World Cup books: he was the author of the first Canadian goal in a World Cup event.
The good start of the North Americans led them to dominate the ball and hang around Dominik Livakovic’s goal, but without capturing that superiority in scoring chances. With Luka Modric controlled, Croatia had a hard time imposing the conditions.
With the passing of the minutes, Canada lowered its intensity and the rival midfield began to appear. Without a good day for Modric, it was Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic who led the comeback.
The first warning came at 26, when Andrej Kramaric scored from an offside position. The concrete tie happened ten minutes later. Ivan Perisic filtered a pass in the area for Kramaric to define the cross.
At the end of the first half, those led by Zlatko Dalic took control of the electronics. A colossal individual play by Josip Juranovic ended in an assist for Marco Livaja. The striker defined at the gate of the area and made it 2-1.
