Palace intrigues are fine, but fans of ‘Game of Thrones’ missed the blood. This reaches the Steps of Stone, the protagonist enclave of the chapter
Those who asked for battles in this new ‘Game of Thrones’ will be happy because the first has not been long in coming and they have served us in the third chapter. The alliance between Lord Corlys Velaryon and Daemon Targaryen has borne fruit and they have come to the Stone Steps to take control of it, in the hands of Craghas Drahar, the Benefactor of the Crabs. While the former leads his fleet, the latter provided an army of mercenaries and assassins. Both conspire with the aim of recovering those islands that connect Poniente and Essos, essential for the navigation routes.
Difficult to forget how the battles of the original series were. From the Blackwater, in which wildfire destroyed Stannis Baratheon’s fleet, to the Bastards, who faced Jon Snow and Ramsay Bolton face to face, each with their own peculiarities, but all of them gimmicky. It should be remembered that, in reality, the first contest of the saga was that of the Green Forest, which took place at the end of the first season. But at that time the blockbuster did not have a high budget and was practically executed in off to the chagrin of the fans, who could not enjoy how Jaime Lannister was captured by the Starks.
‘The House of the Dragon’ does have the means to capture this confrontation in which dragons have played a key role, a weapon capable of intimidating any army. Thus we have seen Prince Daemon on the back of Caraxes, but also the son of Lord Corlys, Laenor, as a rider of Bruma. But weren’t dragons just the property of the Targaryens? Well, after all, Laenor’s mother is Rhaenys Targaryen. This character, who until now had not been presented and who will undoubtedly play a fundamental role later, appears in the last minutes of the episode, to give, almost by surprise, a turn to the battle.
In this chapter he defeats Daemon and defeats ‘The House of the Dragon’, which shows that he is capable of creating tension, epic and spectacle. That yes, resolved little understandable that the episode deprives us of seeing the final duel between Daemon and Craghas, in which the latter loses his life.

time jump
The series, in this new installment, has taken a leap in time -more will come- and already presents us with Queen Alicent Hightower pregnant with her second child, after she has given birth to the first, Aegon, the first male of the King Viserys. And with it comes the Battle of Rhaenyra. This is less visual, less ostentatious, less bloody, but no less important, because what is at stake is the Iron Throne. And she knows it. That is why she is reluctant to participate in the hunting day organized in honor of her brother. He is aware of the threat he poses to her and to her chances of ruling her when her father dies. The lords of the kingdom do not understand that the new Targaryen is not named heir and the Hand, Otto Hightower – the boy’s grandfather – is going to do everything possible to make it so. He even proposes a possible marriage between Rhaenyra and Aegon, despite the fact that Aegon is barely two years old.
Although it is repetitive, Rhaenyra’s story is still the most attractive of the new series at the moment. That ancestor of Daenerys, who is so similar to her, is dazzled by the demands that her charge and her gender bring to her. Because she pretends to be free, something that is not within the reach of those who rule, as her father reminds her. Among her obligations is to obey him in everything she asks of him and also to look for a husband who protects her and with whom to have offspring. None of this excites the princess, which leaves room for hundreds of interpretations.
Among those who offer to marry her is a Lannister, Jason, who comes to remind us that this House already occupied Casterly Rock at that time. He fails in his attempt to impress the princess and bribe the king. The pressure on Rhaenyra mounts and sooner or later she’s going to have to decide who her future ties to. Whether she likes it or not, she cannot run away from social rules that neither she nor anyone else can break. for now

The prequel to ‘Game of Thrones’ continues to juggle to combine all the elements that made the previous series famous and tries to make use of them in each episode to please the fans: it offers intrigues and action in equal parts, so that no one leaves disgusted. But this is not a magic formula that always works, so from time to time it will take more than mixing elements.
