Former congresswoman and daughter of Roberto Jefferson studied film directing and claims to have given up on political life
Cristiane Brazil (PRD-SP), former federal deputy and daughter of Robert Jeffersonclaims to have given up on political life and says he intends to pursue a career as a filmmaker. She completed a 2-year film directing course last month and directed a futuristic dystopian medium-length film about female police officers.
Entitled “Fox”the film takes place in 2034 and tells the story of Silvia, a black police officer who faces a dilemma of whether or not to participate in a bribery scheme within the corporation. She is caught by an artificial intelligence used for social surveillance and ends up being the only one punished, while she sees her bosses go unharmed.
The former deputy states that the film has no relation to her story or that of her father and that she tried to make a social critique about machismo, impunity and social surveillance.
“What I want to talk about is the excess of information that we Brazilians give for free to big techs, to everything on websites, and how this will have consequences for Brazilian freedom in the future and state surveillance”Cristiane Brasil told Power360.
The former deputy says the project is still in post-production and will need special effects. She directs, scripts, produces and executive produces. Furthermore, he said he had dengue fever during the recordings, which took place in São Paulo.
“I had to direct a scene lying down. My body didn’t obey me because of pain, because of discomfort. I fainted, it was chaotic”reported.
NEW CAREER
Cristiane, aged 50, studied at the International Cinema Academy, in the central region of São Paulo, where she interacted with many young people, most of whom had just left high school.
“It was an experience of seeing life in a more colorful way. It was very important for my mental health”, he said.
She says she wants to direct films focusing on the role of women and documentaries with a social content.
“I want to tell stories and not political stories. I want a documentary about Petrópolis, the lives of people on the slopes or the lives of women in women’s prisons. I wanted to take on this flag and not be trapped in this polarization that has already occurred”, he said.
He also stated that he wants to change people’s perception of his figure, which is closely linked to politics and some accusations of corruption: “I want to show the real Cristiane. I’m not that being on Wikipedia. So much so that I didn’t steal that I’m having the same difficulties as every Brazilian.”.

DISILUSION WITH POLITICS
Cristiane was a federal deputy from 2015 to 2019. In 2018, she was appointed Minister of Labor in the government of Michel Temer (MDB). The STF (Supreme Federal Court), however, blocked the appointment.
After that, she was arrested in 2020, accused of participating in misuse of social assistance contracts in Rio de Janeiro. Two years later, she tried to be re-elected as federal deputy, but failed.
Cristiane says she gave up politics and supports herself with her work as a lawyer: “I want to change profession and I want to be a filmmaker. I no longer believe in politics.”
He also said that he only remains in the PRD for “too lazy to go out”but will soon leave the party. The acronym emerged from the merger between Patriota and PTB, previously chaired by his father, Roberto Jefferson, imprisoned since October 2022, after shooting at police officers. Jefferson was the whistleblower of Mensalão, a bribery scheme to buy votes during the first government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
However, Cristiane denies that she suffered resistance because she was a right-wing woman in an artistic school environment, closely linked to left-wing members.
“I didn’t have much resistance because I was right-wing or because I was the daughter of a controversial character. At school, there was left-wing activism, which I respect and which also respected me.”he declared.
“BOLSONARO ABANDONED MY FATHER”
The former deputy stated that the former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) abandoned Roberto Jefferson in jail.
“Bolsonaro is not friends with anyone other than his children, in that small select group that surrounds him. It’s always been like this, so much so that he can’t form a political group. My father was just one more”he declared.
Furthermore, Cristiane Brasil called Pablo Marcal (PRTB), defeated candidate for Mayor of São Paulo, from “Tiririca of the apocalypse”.
“He is the Tiririca of the apocalypse, because we are in the apocalypse of bad. I was very impressed with this division on the right”said the former deputy.
