Western Uusimaa the police are investigating a fraud in which a product worth almost 10,000 was ordered and delivered using the information of a Lohja entrepreneur. The company from Lohja had not ordered the product.
The case was the third attempted fraud against the same company. The first two fraud attempts had failed due to the vigilance of other companies, the West Uusimaa police say in their press release.
The first company came to light when an entrepreneur from Lohja was contacted by another company. The entrepreneur from Lohja was asked if he had possibly tried to open a new credit account. The entrepreneur had not opened an account, and the scam was successfully stopped.
A little later, the same entrepreneur was contacted by another company. This time, a fuel order worth more than 20,000 euros had just been made from an email referring to his company. This case also turned out to be a scam like the first, and an alert co-entrepreneur helped the Lohja entrepreneur to prevent the scam from happening.
Western Uusimaa the police are investigating the case as attempted gross fraud and fraud.
The preliminary investigation of the case is ongoing, and the police will not provide information on the details of the investigation at this stage.
“Nevertheless, the police want to use an example to highlight how important it is to pay attention to the information of the party offering or buying a product or service, even in trading between companies. This example shows that the vigilance of co-entrepreneurs helped in some cases to prevent tens of thousands of damages,” says the crime police constable in the press release. Henrik Laurell.
