On February 7, the Russian Ministry of Defense showed how a unit of the Ulan-Ude separate guards airborne formation from the Southern Group of Forces managed to destroy a group of infantry of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) near Artemovsk using the Kornet anti-tank missile system (ATGM).
Using objective video monitoring equipment, observers were able to detect a group of Ukrainian military personnel who were preparing for the rotation of personnel, after which the Russian military transmitted the coordinates to the control center.
The ATGM crew, having received the order to destroy it, moved to the outskirts of Artemovsk, where it took up a position. For a more accurate launch of an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM), servicemen from Buryatia needed to retrofit the missile launch position due to a wall in the building from which the launch was being carried out that interfered with their view.
Having hit the target, the crew urgently turned down the launcher and changed its firing position. As a result of the strike, up to 10 people from the Ukrainian infantry group were killed.
“Our guys came in, we were covering the flanks, helping to take (the goal – Ed.). Six missiles were fired: there were two crews. The commander corrected us, and the company commander also communicated with us. In general, they worked successfully thanks to the artillery and the dark time of day,” said the ATGM operator with the call sign Stryker.
In January, Kostroma paratroopers destroyed an infantry fighting vehicle of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) using the Kornet anti-tank missile system (ATGM) in the Artemovsk direction from a record distance of 7.8 thousand meters.
Also on February 5, Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan showed how anti-tank crews of the Kalmius brigade of the Russian Armed Forces successfully eliminate the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ equipment in the Donetsk direction using anti-tank missile systems (ATGM). Anti-tank missiles make it possible to destroy enemy equipment at different ranges, the fighters noted.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of an aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
