Covid vaccinations for children between the ages of five and eleven will begin in the United States starting November 8. This was announced by Jeff Zients, coordinator of the White House coronavirus emergency. The Washington representative said 15 million Pfizer doses are ready for administration in this age group.
The serum will be inoculated in young patients with a reduced dose – 10 micrograms – equal to about one third of that for adults, and with a frequency of two injections three weeks apart. Sources of the American authority have specified that reducing the dosage would help mitigate the already rare side effects that occur in these categories of subjects. The pharmaceutical company has announced that the effectiveness of the treatment was found in 90.7% of cases following of the clinical trials carried out.
Before children, the country had allowed adolescents between 12 and 17 years to be vaccinated. This age group still shows a lower percentage of vaccinated than the immediately higher age group.
In the United States, the audience affected by the green light amounts to about 28 million children. Currently, few countries have given the ok to vaccinations for this age group. In addition to China, also Cuba and the United Arab Emirates.
