In the Czech Republic, 27,717 new coronavirus infections have been confirmed in the last 24 hours. This is the highest number of infections since the beginning of the pandemic. This was announced by the Prague Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, the president Milos Zeman was hospitalized after testing positive to a coronavirus test carried out at Lany’s residence west of Prague. This was announced by the presidential office, recalling that Zeman, 77, also obtained the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine. He was discharged yesterday from the Central Military Hospital, where he was hospitalized on 10 October in intensive care for complications related to a chronic liver disease from which he suffers. His personal doctor, Miroslav Zavoral, explained that the president had a “risky contact” in Lany.
Therefore, the appointment scheduled for today of Prime Minister Petr Fiala, leader of the center-right, has been postponed. “The president’s program will be suspended pending completion of Covid-19 treatment,” his office said in a statement.
