In Switzerland, in the last 24 hours, there have been 32,741 new infections, 24 deaths and 167 hospitalizations for covid 19, according to data published by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPE). The number of infections is down compared to last Tuesday, when the bulletin reported 36,658 cases, or 3917 more, 12 deaths and 121 hospitalizations.
On the site, the UFSP specifies that the large amount of declared tests and the high percentage of positive tests suggest a greater number of undetected cases. Therefore, the data on the number of cases only reflect the trend of infections to a limited extent. Currently 640 people are in intensive care. Covid patients occupy 23.80% of available ICU places, with an occupancy rate of 74.10%.
During the last 24 hours, the results of 88,661 tests have been transmitted, with a positive rate of 36.9%, compared to 34.8% last week. The reproduction rate, which is about ten days behind the other data, stands at 1.12. The Omicron variant accounts for 96.0% of cases. In the last fourteen days, the total number of infections is 464,722, or 5,335.89 per 100,000 inhabitants. Since the start of the pandemic, 2,253,243 cases of Covid-19 and 12,380 deaths have been confirmed. In total, 68.29% of Swiss people have already received two doses of the vaccine.
