The new Coronavirus infections recorded in 24 hours in Germany rose to 28,037. A week ago, the daily infections were 16,077. The incidence per 100 thousand inhabitants over 7 days, the Robert Koch Institut reports, therefore rises to 130.2 from 118.0 yesterday. A week ago it was 85.0. Deaths in the last 24 hours were 126, up from 67 a week ago.
Despite the increase in cases, the parties negotiating the birth of a new governing coalition in Germany yesterday pronounced themselves in favor of the end of the state of emergency declared for the pandemic and expiring on November 24th if not further extended. The three parties, SPD, Verdi, Fdp, want to define a new legal framework for a period after 24 November and which will last until 20 March 2022.
Under the new provisions, individual Laender will be able to continue to impose ‘less invasive’ measures such as the use of masks or Green Passes for access to certain structures and social distancing but not wider measures such as the closure of companies and schools, curfew or restrictions on contacts. For Dirk Wiese, vice-president of the parliamentary group of the Partido Socialdemócratico, despite the current increase in infections, the situation is different from August, in consideration of the number of people vaccinated, and therefore there is no longer a serious threat to health in Germany.
